Winter break with the kiddos
Can y’all believe it’s almost December? It seems like each year goes by faster than the one before. My mom is coming to spend Christmas with us for the first time in 8 years and I’m so excited. I have a love-hate relationship with winter break, however. On one hand, I enjoy this time of year and spending time with family but on the other hand, let’s be real, keeping the kids entertained can be challenging. Since we live in Texas, the weather isn’t usually terrible during the winter so we still spend time outside but the boys need me to vary their activities or they get bored. In comes Chuck E. Cheese’s!
Our fun morning at Chuck E. Cheese’s
Between Jude’s school, Charlie’s daily therapy, my work, and Willy’s master’s program, it’s been difficult to synchronize our schedules so we can all spend time together. Today, we had some time and instead of spending it home we decided to do something fun with the kids, so off to Chuck E. Cheese’s we went! I was pleased when I learned about their All You Can Play pass where instead of buying tokens, you buy time and play unlimited games. That’s right! No need to worry about running out of tokens like when we were young.
The All You Can Play pass gives you access to all the games inside the restaurant. All you have to do is select how long you want to play for. And because you can play more games, you earn more tickets and more prizes too! I ended up having a lot of fun playing games too. Jude hit the jackpot a couple of times so he ended up winning our All You Can Play challenge!
Since it was getting close to lunch time, we ate there too. You can pause your All You Can Play pass at any kiosk if you need to use the bathroom or take a snack break. It won’t take away time from your card. The pizza was actually delicious, even Charlie ate it. That says a lot!
Getting out of our comfort zone
I must admit, we often don’t go out together because we get worried that Charlie’s autism is going to get in the way. We worry that a place will be too overwhelming, that people will judge us if Charlie has a meltdown, or mostly, he simply won’t have fun and will require constant supervision. But if we don’t try these things, we’ll never know. It was a good reminder that we need to keep trying to do things with Charlie too because he had a blast at Chuck E. Cheese’s!
Jude was so happy too but that didn’t surprise me. He’s been begging Willy and me to take him back to the “ticket game room” since we came home. I bet grandma is gonna be taking more than one trip to Chuck E. Cheese’s during this winter break!
I just can’t get enough of Jude’s sweet happy face after spending time at Chuck E. Cheese’s. He’s crazy about those big swirly colorful lollipops and I love them too because they remind me of my childhood!
So if you’re looking for fun things to do with your kids this winter, look no further than Chuck E. Cheese’s. Check out Ryan’s Toy Review AYCP Challenge video to see all the fun games you can play there! It was really nice for everyone to be spending time together out of their comfort zones and out of our home. That smile says it all.
Don’t forget the more you visit, the more rewards you can earn to use on food, drinks, games, and prizes! So sign-up for Chuck E. Cheese’s loyalty program, More Cheese Rewards, by downloading the mobile app via iTunes or Google Play.
