If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know how much early childhood education matters to me. After Charlie was diagnosed with autism almost 3 years ago I started learning a lot about the subject. So much of the brain’s development occurs during the first 3 years of life so it’s absolutely vital to take advantage of that time. Jude is 2 so we spend time at home every day doing educational games. He loves learning so it’s a lot of fun.
Which games for toddlers?
Especially at this age, it’s important to make learning fun. You don’t want your children to become averse to school and learning. Thankfully there are a lot of fun ways to teach children preschool skills like counting and the alphabet. I work during the day but I do my best to make time every night to play with Jude.
It’s also important to develop a good support system. When Charlie was an infant, we didn’t have any help. My family is across the world and Willy’s family is across the country. It was only the three of us. With Charlie being our first child, we weren’t sure what to expect developmentally-wise. I wish I had enrolled in in childcare. It’s great for children to socialize during the day and be exposed to different environments and people.
When you’re looking into child care, you want to find a trusted place that will work with you as a partner. Bright Horizons®, are a leading expert in early childhood education with more than 30 years of experience. Bright Horizons and its child care experts support working families with early child care, experienced teachers, and a world-class curriculum that inspires a lifelong love of learning.
Bright Horizons’ programs are great at helping children explore, grow, and thrive. It’s a great place to get your kids used to a school environment and to learn preschool skills. They help children achieve school-readiness in all areas of academic and social learning. They synchronize their programs with local elementary schools and national academic standards to ensures the curriculum is preparing children to succeed when they graduate from the Bright Horizons program.
Another thing that matters to me is whether or not, they personalize their programs depending on the child. Kiddos are all different from each other so I like the idea of evaluating each child’s strengths and needs first. This is something that Bright Horizons does.
Moreover, Bright Horizon’s method of Emergent Curriculum is a developmentally appropriate approach to planning for children’s learning in early childhood settings. Through this approach, teachers gain greater understanding of each child’s individual needs, allowing for thoughtful and individualized programming.
Support for families
In addition, its numerous parenting resources offer an extra layer of support to help families outside of the classroom. To me, it’s really important that the people who spend time with my child are there to support parents too. Bright Horizons is designed to help kids and parents alike. They provide children with the ideal environment to prepare them for their future schooling years but they also support and gently guide families in this very important time in their child’s development, and that’s priceless!
For all these reasons, if you’re looking for child care or a preschool center, I recommend Bright Horizons center.
