My French crêpe recipe
I’m a self-proclaimed bad cook but as a French person, you can trust me on a few things when it comes to recipes. One of them is crêpes. I know how to make French crêpes really well. Like everyone else in France I was taught to make them in elementary school.
Ok let’s get straight to it!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoon of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 16 oz of milk
- a pinch of salt
Directions:
-
Stir together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt
-
In a separate bowl, whisk your 4 eggs
-
Create a well to pour your whisked eggs into (see picture 2)
-
Slowly incorporate the flour by stirring gently with a wooden spoon
-
Once your mixture is thick, slowly add the milk and use a whisk to slowly mix it
-
When you’re done, your pâte à crêpes should be fluid without any grumeaux (chunks)
-
If it’s still too thick, slowly add more milk – it should look like picture 3
-
Add the butter and stir
-
Get your pan hot on med-high, and pour a small ladle of pâte à crêpes on the surface. Make a circular motion to spread your pâte à crêpes all over the pan into a thin layer.
-
When the outside of your crepe is beginning to turn brown, flip it.
-
Cook for 1 minute on that side, and that’s it! Rinse and repeat until your pâte à crêpes is gone.
-
Add your favorite toppings: Nutella, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, powdered sugar, jam… Get creative! 🙂
Et voilà! Bon appétit!
