To the people who are fighting invisible battles—the people who hurt in silence from the fear that their feelings are a burden for their loved-ones—this is your reminder that you are not alone. You are worth it. And I see you.

I see you trying to protect your fragile heart by building up walls. It may work for a while. It works so well, in fact, that nothing gets in. Nothing gets out. You close yourself off from the happiness life has to offer. That is, until the walls break down and then, ah, then, that’s another story.

Then, it’s countless overwhelming emotions that come crashing back in, hitting your soul all at once. Walls are only a temporary relief and can only keep the storm at bay for so long.

I know how tempting it is to hop into a fortress when life throws you a curveball. I know how tempting it is to pretend you don’t care, because if you care, it means you’re giving someone the power to hurt you. But believe me, while walls may be a temporary relief, they’ll never make you happy. So be the open one. Be the one who isn’t afraid to feel, to open up and to cry, and to laugh and to live. Do not become bitter. Do not let the harshness of the world harden you.
